Annie (real name Moon Seo-yoon), the granddaughter of Shinsegae Group Chairman Lee Myung-hee and daughter of Shinsegae Chairman Jeong Yoo-kyung, revealed that there was opposition from her family regarding her debut with the group All Day Project.
All Day Project released a video on their YouTube channel on the 13th, sharing their thoughts and determination ahead of their debut.
Annie said, "When I was 7 years old, I accidentally came across the music video for 'Lollipop' by 2NE1 and Big Bang, and it was so shocking. A new world opened up for me, and I made a resolution that I absolutely wanted to do what they were doing," expressing how she nurtured her dream of becoming a singer after watching 2NE1 and Big Bang.
She continued, "One day, I casually asked my mom, 'What do you think about me becoming a singer?' My mom laughed and said, 'That's impossible,' so I thought, 'I guess it's not going to happen.' But two or three years later, I seriously told her, 'I really want to be a singer,' and she asked if that was a reasonable thing to say, saying 'Absolutely NO.' That was the first 'heartbreak' of my life," she recalled.
Annie mentioned that the opposition from her family was strongest during her second and third years of high school, saying, "But I couldn't give up, so my mom made a suggestion. She said she would help persuade the rest of the family if I got into college, so from that point on, I completely gave up on sleep and worked really hard to prepare for the entrance exams, and I ended up getting accepted into college." She added, "My mom said she didn't think I would actually get into school. She probably thought, 'When does a kid who goes to practice dancing every day study?'"
Annie stated, "People often think that I might not be sincere about this path and I receive a lot of doubt, so I feel like I need to show more to prove how desperate I am for this dream. I really enjoy getting closer to the opportunity to debut, so I work harder every day and have been doing it fiercely," expressing her determination.
All Day Project, which is set to officially debut on the 23rd, is the second group introduced by The Black Label, led by Teddy from One Time, following MIAO. The fact that they are a mixed group has drawn even more attention.
Annie is the granddaughter of Shinsegae Chairman Lee Myung-hee and the daughter of Jeong Yoo-kyung, the head of Shinsegae Department Store. She has been on a leave of absence from Columbia University in the United States to prepare for her debut under The Black Label.
