‘Gaojeong, Coming and Going Lee Min-jung’ made viewers laugh and cry along with Lee Min-jung.
In the episode aired on the 6th, KBS2’s ‘Gaojeong’ featured the second day of the Jeong siblings Lee Min-jung, Boom, Ahn Jae-hyun, Kim Jung-hyun, Kim Jae-won, and guest Lee Jun-young in a rural village in Samcheok, Gangwon Province.
As the leader of the Jeong siblings, Lee Min-jung listened to the stories of the village elders, shedding tears and showing her competitive spirit, which brought laughter. Above all, her sincerity in noticing the changes in her husband Lee Byung-hun and her younger brother Kim Jung-hyun was touching.
Lee Min-jung and Boom headed to a Korean language school for the village elders. Lee Min-jung took on the role of a temporary Korean language teacher. She helped the elders study Korean with example sentences that included her own stories, such as “I was the happiest when my first son was born” and “I cook well, so my family likes it.”
At that moment, one elder mentioned that the first anniversary of her husband’s passing was approaching. Lee Min-jung, deeply empathizing with the elder’s longing for her late husband, shed tears. Boom also shared, “My father passed away in an accident,” and expressed, “If I could meet my father, the only thing I would want to say is ‘I missed you.’” The sincerity of Lee Min-jung and Boom in trying to comfort the elder made viewers feel emotional.
Meanwhile, the flower boy quartet (Ahn Jae-hyun, Kim Jung-hyun, Kim Jae-won, Lee Jun-young) went to a traditional market to gather ingredients for the village feast. They had fun interactions with citizens, playfully urging Lee Jun-young, “You should have treated Geum-myeong better,” and had amusing moments like Lee Jun-young’s lingering attachment to an IU standee, a storm of eating by the flower boy quartet, and Ahn Jae-hyun suddenly becoming a superstar in Samcheok.
The preparations for the village feast officially began. On this day, the Jeong siblings and Lee Jun-young chose a Western course meal that the elders usually do not have easy access to. In particular, Kim Jung-hyun took charge of the pumpkin soup, showcasing cooking skills that exceeded expectations, catching everyone’s attention. Perhaps recognizing the sincerity and effort of the Jeong siblings and Lee Jun-young, the elders responded very positively. One elder they met at the morning Korean school even wrote a thank-you letter to Lee Min-jung in clumsy handwriting.
The genuine conversations among the Jeong siblings were also revealed. Late at night, before going to bed, the Jeong siblings and Lee Jun-young gathered in one place. Lee Min-jung told Kim Jung-hyun, “At first, you looked like you were trying hard, but later you seemed to enjoy working, which looked comfortable and nice. It feels like you are getting healthier.” To this, Kim Jung-hyun replied, “I used to be someone who preferred being alone. It happened when I started working (as an actor). But while doing ‘Gaojeong,’ I started to enjoy meeting people. Being with good people seems to give off good energy.”
Lee Min-jung noticed the positive changes in Kim Jung-hyun. She said, “An actor cannot survive if they are alone. My husband (Lee Byung-hun) was once trapped, and I told him, ‘An actor acts as a person, so how can you act without seeing people? You have to spend happy times.’ At some point, my husband changed a lot.” She added, “An actor should not be trapped. My life should be enjoyable,” giving affectionate advice to Kim Jung-hyun.
Thanks to Lee Min-jung’s heartfelt sincerity, the broadcast was filled with touching emotions. However, Lee Min-jung did not only provide emotional moments. After dinner, when deciding who would do the dishes, she displayed her comedic talent by passionately throwing off her outerwear during a hula hoop competition.
In the preview released, the chaotic and lively Jeong siblings were joined by super guests Lee Chan-won and Shin Dong-yeob, capturing attention. Lee Chan-won, who will burst into excitement with his charming trot, and Shin Dong-yeob, who rushed over for Lee Min-jung, shared stories about BH (Lee Byung-hun), sparking curiosity.
