Comedian Bae Yeon-jeong expressed her gratitude to her husband, who took care of her devotedly during her battle with pancreatic cancer.
In the episode of TV Chosun's current affairs program ‘Perfect Life’ airing on the 21st, Bae Yeon-jeong, the ‘first-generation beauty comedian’, appears with her husband Kim Do-man.
During a recent recording, Lee Seong-mi asked Bae Yeon-jeong, “Many people still think your husband is comedian Bae Il-jip, right?” and “Don’t many people ask about Bae Il-jip’s current situation?” Bae Yeon-jeong had previously appeared in various comedy programs as a couple with Bae Il-jip.
In response, Bae Yeon-jeong said, “We even joked about getting a copy of our family register to show we are not a couple,” adding, “We are not each other's ideal types. I even told Bae Il-jip that he looked like a black-skinned skate from Heuksando because of his droopy eyes,” emphasizing their colleague relationship.
Meanwhile, the couple shared their story of overcoming difficult times together.
Her husband recalled the time when Bae Yeon-jeong battled pancreatic cancer in 2003, saying, “(My wife) was not herself for 4 years due to the aftereffects of pancreatic cancer. She had given up on everything.” Bae Yeon-jeong then expressed her gratitude, saying, “I lost muscle all over my body and couldn’t walk, so my husband carried me for 4 years.”
Bae Yeon-jeong's husband was devoted not only to her but also to her mother. He mentioned that his 95-year-old mother-in-law is bedridden due to dementia, saying, “People around us suggest we take her to a nursing home. During tough times, my wife also suggested it, but I want to take care of her myself until the end,” which reportedly brought applause in the studio.
The episode featuring Bae Yeon-jeong and her husband on ‘Perfect Life’ will air on the 21st at 8 PM.
