
The drama ‘Poksak Sogassuda’ has won the Best Drama Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards.
On the evening of the 5th at 8 PM, the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards took place at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The awards recognize the best works and actors in the broadcasting (TV), film, and theater categories for the first half of 2024 and 2025. The event was hosted by broadcaster Shin Dong-yeop, actress and singer Suzy, and actor Park Bo-gum.
On this day, the Best Drama Award in the broadcasting category was awarded to ‘Poksak Sogassuda’ (Netflix). The drama, which was released in March, is a Netflix original series that unfolds the adventurous life of ‘a bold and rebellious girl’ Aesoon, born in Jeju, and ‘a foolish iron’ Gwan-sik through the four seasons. It features IU, Park Bo-gum, Moon So-ri, and Park Hae-joon, and has been loved by many for its emotional resonance.
Director Kim Won-seok and the production team expressed, “It was an honor to work with such acclaimed writers and actors. We are grateful to receive support and affection from many people. Life may not always be spring, but we hope you don’t be afraid and live with more determination.”
They continued, “They say it’s an era of hatred, but we hope that people can think about living well together without hating each other. We are thankful that this sentiment has been recognized.”
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965, is a comprehensive arts award that honors the production teams and performers in the TV, film, and theater categories that have aired or screened over the past year, aimed at promoting the development of Korean popular culture and uplifting artists.
This year’s theme for the Baeksang Arts Awards is ‘Towards, Sailing’. It embodies the meaning of supporting the development and journey of popular culture and arts that are moving beyond Korea to the world.
