Park Bo-young, Park Jin-young, and Ryu Kyung-soo depict a tangled relationship bound by a secret promise.
The new tvN weekend drama ‘Unknown Seoul’ (written by Lee Kang / directed by Park Shin-woo / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by Monster Union, High Ground) is a romantic coming-of-age drama about twin sisters who swap lives through a lie to find true love and life, with everything different except their faces.
In the drama, Yoo Mi-ji (played by Park Bo-young) and Yoo Mi-rae (also played by Park Bo-young) are twin sisters who have lived the same number of days but lead completely opposite lives. The two, who have always been on the same side from the womb to adulthood, end up swapping their lives due to certain circumstances.
During their time living each other's lives, Yoo Mi-ji and Yoo Mi-rae reunite with their old classmate Lee Ho-soo (played by Park Jin-young) and meet Han Se-jin (played by Ryu Kyung-soo), a novice farm owner in Jae-dong, in an employer-employee relationship. As viewers become curious about how Yoo Mi-ji, Yoo Mi-rae, Lee Ho-soo, and Han Se-jin are intertwined by fate, the actors have chosen keywords related to their relationships to make the story even more intriguing.
First, Park Bo-young (playing Yoo Mi-ji and Yoo Mi-rae) selected the keywords “friendship, love, and empathy” to describe the relationship between the sisters and Lee Ho-soo, who are old hometown friends reunited in Seoul. Although they appear calm on the outside, they form a bond of empathy as they harbor unspoken wounds, leading to a special friendship and love.
Next, Park Jin-young (playing Lee Ho-soo) explained the trio's connection with the word “first,” stating, “The moment they are together, they are like people experiencing everything for the first time, unable to find their footing, yet continuously holding onto that initial excitement,” which heightens curiosity about the story of Yoo Mi-ji, Yoo Mi-rae, and Lee Ho-soo.
Meanwhile, the suspicious employer of the twin sisters, Han Se-jin, shares ambiguous feelings of camaraderie or excitement while sweating together in a strawberry field that smells of earth. Regarding their connection, Park Bo-young defined it as “dreams, or a manito.” Additionally, Ryu Kyung-soo (playing Han Se-jin) added the phrase “sweet strawberries,” suggesting that their meeting will create a sweet synergy, helping each other achieve their dreams.
Thus, ‘Unknown Seoul’ will depict the process of Lee Ho-soo and Han Se-jin, who are caught up in the lies of the twin sisters who swapped lives, supporting each other's lives and growing together, providing warm comfort and excitement.
The new tvN weekend drama ‘Unknown Seoul,’ which will reveal the relationships of Park Bo-young, Park Jin-young, and Ryu Kyung-soo bound by a secret promise, will premiere on Saturday, May 24, at 9:20 PM.
