PD Lim Gi-soon revealed the process of actor Choi Bool-am leaving ‘Korean People's Table’.
On the morning of the 10th, a press conference for the 700th episode of KBS1’s ‘Korean People's Table’ and the new presenter was held at the KBS New Building in Seoul. PD Lim Gi-soon, writer Jeon Seon-ae, and actor Choi Soo-jong attended.
PD Lim Gi-soon stated, “For the past 14 years, Mr. Choi Bool-am has devotedly traveled across the country every week. He had a lot of affection and passion for the program, and a deep sense of mission. It was not just for broadcasting to find the roots of our culture. He also had a strong sense of mission to do his best to maintain a stable community society. Last fall, he took a three-month break. It was his first rest in 14 years. Many celebrities filled in during that time. I am grateful that they liked ‘Korean People's Table’ and respected Mr. Choi Bool-am to join us.”
He continued, “Earlier this year, he expressed his desire to pass it on to a reliable junior. Mr. Choi Bool-am is like the essence of ‘Korean People's Table’. Teacher Kang Bu-ja said, ‘He has a special power in his tone, speech, and gestures.’ He was that kind of person. When he said it was time to step back, it was a reality that the production team could not even imagine. He was the brand itself of ‘Korean People's Table’, and we hadn’t thought about the empty space he would leave. I asked him to reconsider, but his intention was strong. I thought it would be the production team's greed to ask him further, so after much consideration, we ultimately decided on Choi Soo-jong as the new presenter in early March.”
Additionally, PD Lim Gi-soon said, “Mr. Choi Bool-am has a lot of passion and affection for the program. I hope Choi Soo-jong will carry on that deep and rich flavor well. I hope he will keep shining as a good program for a long time. He gave encouraging words that Choi Soo-jong will do well.”
‘Korean People's Table’ is a food documentary program that captures the hidden stories, history, and food culture of representative regional dishes. For the past 14 years and 3 months, Choi Bool-am, who has traveled across the country, symbolizing ‘Korean People's Table’, is concluding his long journey, and Choi Soo-jong will take over the baton.
The 700th episode of ‘Korean People's Table’ with Choi Soo-jong will be broadcast at 7:40 PM on the same day.
