Short track national team member Park Ji-won revealed the reason why he did not wear the golden helmet.
On the 26th, tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' featured short track national team members Park Ji-won, Kim Gil-ri, and Jang Seong-woo as guests.
On that day, Yoo Jae-suk mentioned Kim Gil-ri's golden helmet, which gained attention at the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games, saying, "Only Kim Gil-ri had a different helmet. This helmet is said to be given only to the world ranking number one."
Kim Gil-ri explained, "In last year's World Cup season, the rankings were engraved, and both Park Ji-won and I ranked first overall, so we were the only two to receive the helmet."
Both Kim Gil-ri and Park Ji-won received the golden helmet, but Park Ji-won did not wear it. He explained, "It clearly looks the same as other helmets, but strangely, it felt heavy. I guess it's the weight of a crown. It felt too heavy, and since the Asian Games is my first major competition, I didn't want to feel burdened. I decided to wear it only during practice sessions to get some energy and participate with number 71 instead of number 1."
Hearing this, Kim Gil-ri joked, "I didn't really think that way. It's the same helmet. Since I'm the only one wearing this helmet, doesn't it make me stand out? I think I wore it to show that 'I am Kim Gil-ri.'
