Lee Min-woo is challenging to become a trot singer.
On the afternoon of the 8th, KBS2's 'Salrimnam Season 2' (hereinafter 'Salrimnam') featured Park Seo-jin and Lee Min-woo.
On this day’s broadcast, Park Seo-jin appeared as the first Salrimnam. As Seo-jin scribbled something late at night, his younger sister Hyo-jung interrupted, saying, "What is it? Are you in love?" Holding the paper, Hyo-jung teased, "Happy and excited... always cherishing and loving? Who is it? What are you making step by step? Are you making love? Is it pretty?" making everyone laugh.
Hyo-jung read Seo-jin's writing in front of their parents, saying, "Mom, Dad, this is an extra edition~ I am so happy and excited. I thought for a long time about what to say. The day of fulfilling my dream has come. Always cherishing and loving..." The parents were surprised and asked, "Are you in love?" Seo-jin rebutted, "No!" and his father supported Seo-jin's love life, saying, "You're at the age to date, so what?"
Taking advantage of the moment, Hyo-jung read again, "Even when it was hard, just thinking about that made me so happy," but Seo-jin snatched the paper back. He replied, "That's something I will read during my speech tomorrow. I said I would go to my elementary school to give a speech tomorrow," surprising the panelists.
Seo-jin said, "The elementary school I attended is celebrating its 120th anniversary. So they invited me. When I was in school, there were times when we couldn't afford my brother's surgery, and someone sponsored us. There were also times when we struggled to pay for lunch, and someone helped us. There are definitely kids in similar situations now. So I want to say, don't get hurt and please donate..." moving everyone.
His mother said, "My son is giving a speech at his elementary school? Now that he has succeeded, let's give him a round of applause," and clapped her hands. She also expressed gratitude to Seo-jin and Hyo-jung, saying, "You both grew up well so that we wouldn't worry, and I'm so thankful for how much you've grown."
On the day of the speech, Seo-jin headed to Samcheongpo Elementary School while looking at the banners celebrating his 'KBS Rookie Award' hanging around his hometown, and he entered the principal's office to a warm welcome from his juniors.
Seo-jin and Hyo-jung reminisced as they looked at the report cards handed to them by the principal. When Seo-jin read Hyo-jung's report card, saying, "I memorized the multiplication table, which greatly increased my confidence in multiplication, and I made fewer mistakes, but I struggled to understand division, so I hesitated to solve problems," Hyo-jung scoffed, "Was that in 4th grade? Of course, it was hard back then." Hyo-jung then held up Seo-jin's report card and said, "Slow in calculations and not accurate, so problem-solving ability is low. Lacks reading ability and dislikes reading," countering him, while Han Bo-reum worried, "You're about to give a speech, but if you lack reading ability... I'm concerned."
In response, Seo-jin attacked Hyo-jung, saying, "I know the causes and prevention methods of obesity," and Hyo-jung joked, "Of course I know! I know how to gain weight!" making everyone laugh.
Seo-jin then began his speech, saying, "I will always cherish and love my family and teachers more than myself, and I will support you all. Congratulations on your graduation," successfully concluding his speech.
At that moment, Seo-jin's parents arrived, and when Seo-jin asked, "Why are you here?" with indifference, his parents said, "You couldn't come when you graduated," handing him a bouquet with an apologetic expression. His father added, "I'm sorry to Hyo-jung too. I couldn't go to my youngest daughter's graduation," and they took a photo together.
His mother said, "I feel sorry for saying this now to make you feel better, but I'm grateful and sorry that we could do this together, even if it's late," while his father shared in an interview, "We want to do the things we couldn't do when we lived without you, taking care of our son and daughter one by one with my wife."
As the second Salrimnam, Shinhwa's Lee Min-woo and his family appeared. His mother said, "I think there will be good news this year," and cautiously asked, "You have sorted out your agency, right?" Lee Min-woo replied in an interview, "My contract with the agency ended as the new year began. I am looking for a new partner to pursue my dream."
Later, his mother turned on a trot program and said, "I hope my son can appear on something like that. I want to see you sing once. Show me before I die. Don't you have connections to get good songs for trot? You need to step up and make it happen. Try to develop it," expressing her wishes, to which Lee Min-woo replied, "Oh, stop it," and left the room.
His father expressed concern, saying, "Our Min-woo used to have many fans. But now that the fans are decreasing, I was worried he might get criticized, so I couldn't bring it up."
On another day, Min-woo met comedian Heo Kyung-hwan and headed somewhere. Kyung-hwan said, "I prepared a special connection for you. Lim Young-woong would be nervous in front of this person," introducing Seol Woon-do.
Seol Woon-do said, "Fortunately, many idol juniors are moving into the trot market now," and upon seeing Lee Min-woo preparing for trot, he responded, "Congratulations," making everyone laugh. When Heo Kyung-hwan asked if Lee Min-woo could challenge the trot field, Seol Woon-do said, "You go first," testing both Heo Kyung-hwan and Lee Min-woo.
Heo Kyung-hwan passionately sang 'Purple Postcard,' and Seol Woon-do scolded him, saying, "Do you not know the melody? That's a joke, and that's not how you sing." Next was Lee Min-woo's turn, and after dancing and passionately singing 'Love's Twist,' Seol Woon-do said, "You wouldn't be out of place on a trot stage! But you need to ride the rhythm more! The point of this song is the offbeat. You need to come in later, not on the beat. Try it again," giving him special training.
After receiving Seol Woon-do's training, Lee Min-woo sang 'Love's Twist' again, and Seol Woon-do honestly said, "He is a singer with sufficient market value. There’s no need to waste such good talent," surprising the panelists.
Lee Min-woo said, "I gained confidence from the look in my senior's eyes, and this is truly an unforgettable day. I will visit you soon, senior," indicating that he would seriously prepare to become a trot singer.
'Salrimnam' airs every Saturday at 9:15 PM.
