Kim Hye-rin, who received high praise from Young K and brought Wendy to tears, along with Ahn Young-bin, heated up the 3rd round of 'The Danttara' with a fierce competition. In the process, Choi Soo-min and Shin Si-yeon were eliminated.
The 7th episode of KBS2's entertainment show 'The Danttara', aired on the 15th, featured the 1-on-1 battle round of the 3rd round.
Choi Jong-won and Seo Jeong-eun, who showcased their versatile talents in every round, took the stage. Choi Jong-won, who went first, chose Na Hoon-a's 'Why Are You Crying', performing a comical act of comforting a friend in a school uniform who was crying, with gestures that were not age-appropriate, which left the masters in awe.
During the performance, Cha Tae-hyun stood up and expressed his satisfaction, saying, "Why are you so good at singing? You are truly the star of 'The Danttara'." Park Jin-young praised, "The character is insane." Amidst the compliments directed at Choi Jong-won, Seo Jeong-eun showcased his outstanding vocal skills as a music major. He chose Park Eun-bin's 'Until the End', the OST of the drama 'Diva of the Deserted Island', and expressed the process of overcoming past wounds and regaining self-esteem in a bright atmosphere. Wendy expressed her disappointment, saying, "It wasn't enough to show everything through the song," and the result was that Choi Jong-won won, while Seo Jeong-eun was eliminated.
The next battle was between dance major Choi Soo-min and Kim Hye-rin. Young K expressed high expectations even before the competition, saying, "It's the first time I'm overwhelmed by a silhouette." Choi Soo-min, who went first, chose MC Sniper's 'BK Love' and expressed the pain and precariousness of love through choreography using her long arms and legs. Cha Tae-hyun made everyone laugh by saying, "You really can't ignore those long legs," but Park Jin-young expressed disappointment, saying, "The choreography is a failure. It's close to an F," and added, "You were born with long legs and acting talent, but the choreography held you back."
Kim Hye-rin, who went second, had lost in the team battle in the 2nd round, so she expressed her determination, saying, "I won't lose twice." He emotionally expressed his changed self after meeting his dreams against the backdrop of Sunwoo Jung-a's 'Burst', and the masters cheered and shed tears while watching the performance.
Cha Tae-hyun said, "I almost cried in the middle, but fortunately, Wendy was crying next to me. It was a relief," which made everyone laugh. Wendy empathized with the participants, saying, "'The Danttara' is such a great program. It must be a huge burden to rise one step at a time," and added, "I couldn't stop crying at the expressions of Hye-rin finding what she loves and the energy filling up afterward." The masters chose Kim Hye-rin. However, while selecting Kim Hye-rin, Cha Tae-hyun warmly encouraged Choi Soo-min, who had to drink the bitter cup, saying, "It was a success. It's right to keep challenging yourself."
The next battle featured Ahn Young-bin and Shin Si-yeon, who stood out as directors. Park Jin-young revealed, "These two are the identity of 'The Danttara'. It's a competition that is not easy at all," raising expectations. Ahn Young-bin went first, choosing Wonder Girls' 'Be My Baby' and capturing the experience of first love. Ahn Young-bin transformed into a girl, expressing the excitement of first love and the fever of first love through his acting, evoking sympathy. Park Jin-young praised, "Can this also be done? It's not done awkwardly; this can be done, and that can be done. The delicately crafted choreography was so good."
Shin Si-yeon chose Brown Eyed Girls' 'Candy Man', transforming into a bad boy and presenting a contrasting concept to Ahn Young-bin. Cha Tae-hyun said of Shin Si-yeon's stage, "There was nothing to pick on. It was so much fun," but added, "However, it's a shame that it's predictable what kind of stage it will be." Kim Ha-neul commented, "Young K came as a special master, and I wanted to show that our participants are doing well. I wanted to surprise them," and added, "But I think we were trying to shed something from the evaluation that we had been 'exaggerated' until now. It was a clean stage." Ultimately, the winner of this battle was Ahn Young-bin. Young K praised Ahn Young-bin's stage, saying, "I liked the choreography starting with the toe movements and ending with a ballad arrangement."
The 13 winners of the 3rd round 1-on-1 battle round have secured their place in the 4th round. Following this, two additional passers among the participants who lost in the 3rd round were announced, causing surprise. Yoo Woo, who successfully revived with unanimous support from the masters, vowed, "I will turn the stage upside down from now on." The other name called was traditional music major Na Young-joo, raising expectations for the next stage. The 4th round will be a three-way battle, promising even fiercer competition among the 15 participants, raising heart rates.
The 3rd round, featuring head-to-head battles between two competing participants, was filled with continuous tension and twists. While the elimination of Choi Soo-min and Shin Si-yeon, who had garnered attention, was disappointing, it also confirmed the growth of Kim Hye-rin and Ahn Young-bin, raising expectations for the next generation of stars who will continue to evolve into more complete forms.
