Singer and actress Kang Mina will not participate in the I.O.I 10th anniversary reunion project.
On the 12th, a representative from her agency Story J Company stated to Maeil Business Star Today regarding Kang Mina's participation in the I.O.I reunion project, “There were concerns as the timing being discussed for the reunion activities overlaps with the filming of a drama and the promotional period for the drama that will be opened later.”
They added, “We are aware of the long wait and expectations from the fans, and after extensive discussions with the artist, we concluded that it would be difficult for her to participate, respecting the artist's wish to focus on her acting activities.”
I.O.I, formed through the Mnet audition program 'Produce 101' Season 1, which ended in 2016, consisted of Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yoojung, Kim Chung Ha, Kim So Hye, Zhou Jieqiong, Jung Chae Yeon, Kim Do Yeon, Kang Mina, Lim Nayoung, and Yoo Yeon Jung, and they were active for about a year before ending their activities in January 2017.
As discussions for a reunion are underway to mark their 10th debut anniversary next year, Kang Mina will be absent due to scheduling issues. She is currently appearing in the drama 'Twelve,' which is available on KBS2 and Disney+, and has also been cast in Netflix's 'Giri/Haji' and tvN's 'Tomorrow, I Will Go to Work!'
