On the 14th, the 41st Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court held the first mediation session for the lawsuit filed by Ador against the members regarding the validity of their exclusive contracts, which lasted about an hour and 20 minutes starting at 2 PM. On this day, at the request of the court, NewJeans members Minji and Daniel attended to express their positions.
As it was a mediation session, both sides met at a crossroads to reach an agreement, but ultimately could not find a conclusion and decided to postpone to the second mediation session scheduled for the 11th of next month. However, since it is not a failure of mediation, there still seems to be a possibility of reaching an agreement.
Previously, NewJeans held an emergency press conference in November last year, declaring the termination of their exclusive contract with Ador, citing a breakdown of trust. They then announced their new activity name 'NJZ' and embarked on independent activities.
In response, Ador filed a lawsuit for the confirmation of the validity of the exclusive contracts against the NewJeans members, along with a request for a provisional injunction to maintain the status of the agency and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. The court accepted the injunction request and granted it in full, effectively blocking NewJeans' independent activities and halting their activities.
Meanwhile, member Daniel has been the only one to share updates and communicate with fans. He has shared bright daily news while enjoying running with singer Sean and actor Park Bo-gum.
On this day, Daniel appeared in court with a smile. Although he did not answer questions in front of the press with Minji, he maintained a relaxed demeanor, frequently smiling.
NewJeans, which debuted on July 22, 2022, recently celebrated its third anniversary, but has not been able to celebrate or even acknowledge the occasion due to disputes with their agency. After missing their debut anniversary for the second consecutive year, attention is focused on how NewJeans' future will unfold.
Ador hopes for the members' return, but the members are rejecting this. According to Ador, communication with the members was finally achieved through the court on this day. It remains to be seen how much the gap between the two sides can be narrowed in the upcoming mediation session. It is certainly a crucial moment for the members who are eager to resume activities.
