As the Netflix animated film ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ creates a global sensation, the movie's OST ‘Golden’ has reached 6th place on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

According to the latest chart released by the American music publication Billboard on July 19, the girl group HuntRix from ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ has climbed to 6th place with their song ‘Golden’.

This marks a significant jump from last week's 23rd place, rising a remarkable 17 spots. ‘Golden’ has recorded 18.8 million streams (a 39% increase from last week), 950,000 airplay listeners, and 3,000 sales.

It is the first time in 16 years that a virtual artist has entered the top 10 of the Hot 100 since Hannah Montana in 2009. Previously, in the 1950s, The Chipmunks, in the 1960s and 70s, The Archies, in the 1970s, The Partridge Family, and in 1992, The Heights made it to the top 10 as virtual artists.

With the OST gaining popularity, attention is also turning to the performers of ‘Golden’. All the vocalists are Korean-Americans, including SM Entertainment trainees and songwriter Lee Jae, singer-songwriter Audrey Nuna, and hip-hop/electronic artist Ray Amiga.

Meanwhile, ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ depicts the popular girl group HuntRix, who protect the human world from evil spirits, competing with the boy group Lion Boys born from the spirit world while uncovering their identities. Since its release on the 20th of last month, it has received a hot response, ranking first globally in the Netflix movie category.
