YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK are collaborating on efforts for sustainable performances through the 'DEADLINE' tour.

On the 4th, YG Entertainment announced that it has signed a purchase agreement for Peace Renewable Energy Certificates (P-REC) with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency, ahead of the BLACKPINK World Tour 'DEADLINE'.

P-REC is an international certification for renewable energy produced in conflict areas. Through this agreement, YG and BLACKPINK will offset some of the electricity used during the 'DEADLINE' tour by purchasing P-REC. The total amount spent on the purchase will be reinvested in South Sudan, the site of the energy production, to support humanitarian aid and power supply for higher education institutions that need reconstruction for peace due to civil war.

The P-REC purchase by YG and BLACKPINK, which is also the first transaction of its kind in South Korea, contributes positively beyond just renewable energy certification, enhancing energy accessibility and creating jobs in the region. Given the immense love from music fans worldwide, this effort reflects their commitment to social responsibility and giving back to their supporters.

Additionally, YG Entertainment will introduce 'BLACKPINK Water', an environmentally friendly paper-packaged water, at the 'DEADLINE' performances in Goyang on the 5th and 6th. They will install dedicated collection bins for recycling paper packs and operate booths to raise awareness about waste separation and resource recycling. Customized recycling collection bins that evoke BLACKPINK will be offered as reward items, and a portion of the sales revenue will be donated to resource circulation-related activities.

Moreover, there will be a 'YOUR GREEN STEP' booth, which allows audiences to actively participate in measuring their carbon footprint while enjoying the concert, and a booth from the British Embassy in Korea that reflects on the meaningful efforts in climate change response that BLACKPINK has been involved in since 2020. These initiatives are expected to receive a positive response.

Meanwhile, YG Entertainment emphasized the 'Seven Principles of Sustainable Performances' (▲ Greenhouse Gas Management ▲ Improving Performance Accessibility ▲ Fan Engagement ▲ Enhancing Content Impact ▲ Venue Safety Management ▲ Reducing Environmental Pollution in Venues ▲ Sustainable Performance Governance) through the 'Sustainable Performance Report' published in 2024, the first of its kind by a domestic entertainment company. Based on this, they are implementing social and environmental efforts in the performances of their affiliated artists. The BLACKPINK World Tour 'DEADLINE', which will take place in 16 cities over 31 shows, will also continue to raise public awareness for sustainable performances through pre-show videos.
