Suhye, a member of the group Maidin, will be halting her activities.
On the 14th, the agency 143 Entertainment announced, "Suhye has decided to take a break for the time being due to personal reasons."
They added, "As this decision is made to meet fans in a good state, we ask for your generous understanding. We will do our best to support Suhye so that she can take her time and rest comfortably."
The reason Suhye's halt in activities is drawing attention is due to allegations of sexual assault surrounding the team and the agency's representative. Currently, Representative A of 143 Entertainment is facing allegations of forcibly molesting a member of the girl group under the agency. Although the name of the affected member has not been officially reported, Maidin is the only girl group under 143 Entertainment.
In fact, Gaeun mentioned indirectly about the assault allegations on her SNS on the 28th of last month, stating, "It was very scary and required a lot of courage to raise my voice in a world filled with recordings I didn't even know existed and false stories. I first learned about my team withdrawal through articles after the broadcast."
In November of last year, JTBC's 'Incident Manager' reported that a member of a girl group was sexually assaulted by the agency's representative. Representative A denied the allegations to 'Incident Manager', stating, "The member suggested first, 'Please let me continue to be active in the team. I will be your daily girlfriend,' and also asked to show her a movie first." The agency also reiterated, "There was no sexual assault or any sexual contact due to power between the member mentioned in the broadcast and the representative, and the report is not true."
In this situation, the mother of the member claiming to be a victim of sexual assault held a press conference on the 29th of last month, stating, "I am forever a sinner to my daughter. Under the pretext of caring for my child, I foolishly responded and pushed her deeper into darkness," and added, "Such incidents must not happen again. Such people must be expelled from the industry and must pay for their crimes."
The mother also demanded an official apology from 143 Entertainment and immediate termination of the exclusive contract. On that day, the mother reported Representative A to the police for allegations of sexual assault.
Maidin, a seven-member group that debuted in September 2023, includes members Kang Yeseo and Mashiro from Kep1er.
