Singer and producer Jung Gi-go (44, real name Go Jeong-ki) has been appointed as the head of Magic Strawberry Sound.
According to reports from Maeil Business Star Today on the 21st, Jung Gi-go recently signed a contract as the overall operator of the Magic Strawberry Sound label. He will also be active as a performer.
While Jung Gi-go is recognized by the public as an R&B singer, his role as the head of an entertainment planning company is expected to showcase his capabilities as a professional manager beyond just being a musician. The industry is also paying close attention to Jung Gi-go's appointment as it is an unusual case. While it is common to see representatives appointed through the establishment of a company, it is rare to appoint a singer as a professional manager in an entertainment company that has been established for over 10 years and has proven experience.
According to insiders, Magic Strawberry Sound plans to broaden the company's past identity, which has remained in independent music, through the recruitment of Jung Gi-go, while also diversifying its roster of artists.
Magic Strawberry Sound, one of the labels under the comprehensive entertainment company Mound Media, was established in July 2014 as an independent label and has built a long-standing reputation. It is well-known for nurturing prominent artists such as 10cm, Rooftop Moonlight, Sunwoo Jung-a, and Park Moon-chi. However, these artists have since moved to other agencies, and the company is currently working behind the scenes to recruit new artists. Currently, it is home to artists like Song So-hee, Ha Sang-wook, Yebit, Samyu, and Ahn Da-young.
Among them, the key artist under Jung Gi-go's leadership is So-you. So-you recently signed an exclusive contract with Magic Strawberry Sound, adding weight to the company's position. Jung Gi-go and So-you released the duet "Some" in 2014, which topped the music charts and received great love, being regarded as a classic. Therefore, the musical chemistry between the two in their new agency is also a point of anticipation.
Jung Gi-go debuted as a member of Infinite Flow in 2002 and has been pursuing his music career for over 20 years. He has provided his voice with various capabilities, including his roots in hip-hop and R&B ballads.
