2PM's Jang Wooyoung expressed his disappointment, stating that he has no shares in his agency, JYP Entertainment.
On the 16th, a video featuring 2PM's Jang Wooyoung and Mamamoo's Hwasa as guests was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Tteun Tteun’ for the web entertainment show ‘Excuse Me’.
In the video, Yoo Jae-suk asked, “I heard Wooyoung is an executive at JYP,” to which Jang Wooyoung replied, “I’m not an internal director at JYP, but I am the Director of External Cooperation.”
He then confessed, “I have no shares (in the company).” Yoo Jae-suk expressed regret, saying, “You should have bought some.” Jang Wooyoung agreed, saying, “That’s right. I should have bought some. But I have no interest in stocks, so I don’t have any shares.”
Jang Wooyoung continued, “I had the opportunity but didn’t buy. When we first renewed our contract, we were usually given a choice between shares and cash. At that time, I didn’t really know how the company would turn out, so it felt like giving us the option was more of an acknowledgment of our hard work rather than an invitation to invest in the company. After thinking for a few days, I just told him to give me cash instead of shares.”
Yoo Jae-suk responded, “It was definitely something tangible,” praising, “JYP is doing well.”
Hearing this, Jang Wooyoung expressed deep regret, saying, “Looking back, I’m going crazy,” especially since, as of 2023, JYP Entertainment's market capitalization has increased 16 times in 10 years.
When asked how much he would buy if he could turn back time, Jang Wooyoung humorously replied, “I would just buy everything. I would invest it all.”
