It has been two years since singer Hyunmi passed away.

Hyunmi was found collapsed at her home in Ichon-dong, Seoul, at 9:37 AM on April 4, 2023. The president of her fan club discovered her and she was transported to the hospital, but she had already passed away. Her two sons, who were staying in the United States, and her nephew, actor Han Sang-jin, rushed back to Korea, and her funeral was held for five days under the auspices of the Korean Singer Association.

Hyunmi debuted in 1957 as part of the Hyun Sisters with the title of 'College Student Singer'. Initially, she took the stage as a dancer performing the 'kal dance', but she became a singer when she took the microphone as a substitute for a female singer who canceled her schedule at the last minute. Hyunmi gained immense popularity with her first album released in 1962, which included the song 'Night Mist', and she performed alongside top singers of the time such as Lee Geum-hee, Wiki Lee, and Han Myung-sook.

Additionally, Hyunmi collaborated with her husband, saxophonist and composer Lee Bong-jo, to release songs such as 'All My Love', 'I Just Liked It', 'Rice Cake Soup', and 'Leave Without Saying Goodbye'. Her most recent release was 'Don't Worry About Me', which came out in 2017.
