Seo Hyun-joo, the general producer of Starship Entertainment, has been recognized as one of the 'Influential Women in Music' by Billboard in the United States.

According to the 'Billboard Women in Music 2025' announced by Billboard on the 20th (local time), Seo Hyun-joo has been listed in the 'Labels & Distributors' category. She has made history as a K-pop female producer, gaining global recognition for her innovative producing and sharp planning skills.

The 'Billboard Women in Music' list selects the top female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have made a significant impact on the music industry in a given year. By being included in this year's 'Billboard Women in Music,' Seo Hyun-joo has proudly strengthened the status of K-pop in the global music market as a female producer.

Seo Hyun-joo serves as the vice president and general producer of Starship, performing a wide range of roles from artist planning and music production to global strategy. Her journey goes beyond mere success stories. The groups she has planned and led, including K.Will, Sistar, Monsta X, WJSN, Cravity, and IVE, have contributed to shaping the flow of K-pop with their distinct musicality and identity.

In particular, in line with the expansion into the global market, Seo Hyun-joo has played a significant role in helping Monsta X make their overseas debut. Monsta X's first full-length album in the U.S., 'All About Luv,' released in 2020, achieved the remarkable feat of entering the Billboard 200 chart at number 5, and their second English album, 'The Dreaming,' also entered the Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks. Furthermore, Monsta X made history by participating in the 'Jingle Ball' tour, the largest year-end concert held by the famous American broadcasting company iHeartRadio, three times, becoming the first K-pop group to do so.

IVE, which has made remarkable strides both domestically and internationally and has established itself as an 'MZ wannabe icon,' has also succeeded in building a strong brand by twisting the typical formulas that previous K-pop groups relied on, based on the concept of 'self-confidence.' Through the A&R team's song camp led by Seo Hyun-joo, they collaborated with various songwriters to optimize IVE's unique color and continued to take on challenges. This is not just a response to trends but a result of Seo Hyun-joo's planning ability and market insight.

As a female producer, Seo Hyun-joo is regarded as an exceptional figure who established Starship in 2008 after serving as an A&R producer at SM Entertainment and as a director at Big Hit Entertainment during the early days of K-pop, which was divided into first and second generations. Seo Hyun-joo broke through the higher barriers of prejudice that existed for women during a time when such limitations were more pronounced. Her strength lies not in simple female leadership but in her delicate and strategic perspective on artists and music.

The results of this have earned Seo Hyun-joo numerous accolades, including the Producer Award at the 37th Golden Disc Awards in 2023, Producer Awards at the MMA and Asia Artist Awards, and recognition from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea at the Korea Content Awards. However, she is a person who focuses more on the future than on awards. She is drawing attention as she prepares to present another vision through Starship's new groups 'KiiiKiii' and 'New Kids (tentative name)' in 2025.

Being named in the 'Billboard Women in Music,' a standard in the global music market, is a symbolic record of K-pop that shows that a Korean female producer can become a key figure in the global music market, beyond just an individual's achievements. As such, there is growing anticipation for the future endeavors of Seo Hyun-joo.

Meanwhile, the 'Billboard Women in Music 2025' event will be held on the 29th (local time) at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, USA.
