Trot singer Yang Ji-eun paid tribute to the late Song Dae-kwan.
On the 7th, Yang Ji-eun posted on her SNS, “Senior Song Dae-kwan, who always treated his juniors warmly and kindly. I hope you find peace there. I sincerely pray for the repose of your soul.”
According to her agency, Song Dae-kwan passed away that morning. The cause of death is reported to be a heart attack.
A representative from the agency told Maeil Business Star Today, “The deceased did not have any chronic illness. He only went to the hospital a few days ago because he was feeling unwell. After that, he suddenly passed away from a heart attack today.”
The funeral hall for the deceased has been set up in Room 1 of Seoul National University Hospital. The burial site is at Seoul Memorial Park, and the funeral will be held on February 9 at 11 AM.
It is reported that Song Dae-kwan had been active until recently and had no health issues. He was scheduled to appear on KBS’s ‘Gayo Stage’ next week, but this unfortunate news has been announced. The writer of ‘Gayo Stage’ expressed regret in a conversation with a media outlet, saying, “The deceased was scheduled to appear on ‘Gayo Stage’ next week, but a few days ago, he said he needed to postpone his appearance because he wasn’t feeling well. Until then, we had been in conversation, but he suddenly passed away.”
Additionally, it is known that Song Dae-kwan had been participating in multiple broadcasts and overseas schedules.
Song Dae-kwan debuted in 1967 with the song ‘Kind Uncle’ and hit his peak in 1975 with ‘The Day the Sun Rises.’ He began to make a mark in the trot industry by sweeping various awards at ceremonies and continuously releasing numerous hit songs such as ‘One Train Ticket,’ ‘Because of Love,’ ‘Four Beats,’ and ‘Popular Song.’
Song Dae-kwan was also referred to as one of the “Four Kings of Trot” alongside singers Tae Jin-ah, Hyun-chul, and Seol Woon-do.
