Onew, a member of the group SHINee, casts his magic through music once again.
Onew will release his mini album No. 4 'Connection' on the 6th. This is Onew's first new album in about four months since the release of mini album No. 3 'Flow'.
The title track 'Winner' features a vintage drum sound, with guitar and keyboard leading the flow of the song. The intense band sound in the chorus is remarkable, conveying the message that 'we are all winners' in any situation. Onew collaborated with lyricist Seo Ji-eum, who has produced numerous hit songs, to enhance the song's quality.
The music video, released alongside the audio, was filmed entirely on location in Prague, Czech Republic. With the overarching theme of 'connection' that the album embodies, fragmented track preview videos are woven into a single story. Viewers will be reminded of their own memories as they see scenes that evoke their current selves or their past selves in exotic landscapes.
Additionally, the album includes 'Promise You', which expresses precious feelings towards a mother, who is often the closest yet easiest to forget; 'Boy', which recalls a dream-filled childhood through 70s disco music sampling; 'Gradation', where lyrics metaphorically express the feeling of falling in love, resembling a musical; 'Conversation', which critiques the lack of communication many experience as the use of smart devices becomes commonplace; and 'Manse', which sings about the inner desire to go outside while claiming to be a loner in a chaotic world, totaling six tracks.
'Connection' emphasizes the organic connection between Onew's inner and outer self. Following mini album No. 3 'Flow', Onew participated in the production and songwriting of all tracks in 'Connection', adding authenticity. The album is expected to awaken forgotten emotions through various themes and invite listeners into Onew's unique musical world that transcends imagination and reality.
Onew will release mini album No. 4 'Connection' at 6 PM today on various music streaming sites.
