Singer Na Hoon-a expressed his thoughts on the civil unrest following President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of a state of emergency.

According to Sports World on the 15th, Na Hoon-a candidly revealed his feelings about the state of emergency during the '2024 Thank You - Last Concert' held on the 7th at Daegu EXCO East Hall.

Na Hoon-a mentioned that he even considered canceling the performance due to the state of emergency, saying, “A few days ago, I stayed up all night. I was worried about whether to perform or not. I thought, ‘What should I do?’ I saw the state of emergency being lifted in the early morning, had a drink, and went to sleep.”

He continued, “What is the essence of politics? The principle is to protect the lives of the people and ensure they do not go hungry,” and pointed out, “This is what should be debated in the National Assembly all night.”

Na Hoon-a asked, “Where is the National Assembly? Which side is Yongsan? Where are the homes of the ruling and opposition party leaders?” and sang ‘Empty’ passionately with the audience, saying, “I gather my strength at the end of this debt.” The song reflects on the meaning of life with lyrics like ‘Life is a brief visit, a world we stay in for a moment,’ ‘It’s hard even for a hundred years, living as if for a thousand years,’ and ‘You come to understand the meaning of life as you live.’

Na Hoon-a has been holding retirement concerts since the 12th, starting in Daejeon. The tour will conclude in Seoul in January next year after stops in Gangneung, Jinju, Gwangju, Busan, and Daegu.

Na Hoon-a, who debuted in 1967, announced his intention to retire through his agency in February, stating, “I want to follow the profound truth of the simple words, ‘Leave when the applause stops.’”
