Hollywood star Milla Jovovich is returning to Korea after 8 years.
Milla Jovovich and director Adrian Grunberg will attend the Busan International Film Festival's 'Midnight Fashion' section, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, with their new film 'Protector' (directed by Adrian Grunberg), which will also have its world premiere and be unveiled to the world for the first time.
The Midnight Fashion section introduces new genre films that combine artistic merit and entertainment late at night. 'Protector' tells the story of Nikki Halstead (played by Milla Jovovich), a former U.S. special forces agent, who must find her daughter Chloe, kidnapped by a criminal organization, within 72 hours, featuring a breathless and merciless chase action.
Milla Jovovich, who established herself as Hollywood's leading action heroine through 'The Fifth Element' and the 'Resident Evil' series, takes on the role of Nikki Halstead, embarking on a chase to find her daughter while delivering rough, intense, and realistic action. Isabel Myers, known as the sister of Emma Myers, who has recently received immense love from fans for the 'Wednesday' series and is a passionate K-pop fan, plays the role of Chloe.
Notably, this is Milla Jovovich's first visit to Korea in 8 years since her collaboration with actor Lee Joon-gi in 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.'
During her previous visit, she was known as a representative 'Korean Wave' actor, having visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and taught Taekwondo to her daughter, so there are high expectations for her activities this time as well. She plans to participate in various events, including an outdoor stage greeting and a talk with the audience (GV) in Busan, directly communicating with Korean fans.
Director Adrian Grunberg, who led global box office success with 'Rambo: Last Blood,' will be making his first visit to Korea. He is expected to share behind-the-scenes insights and the significance of the film during this year's Busan event.
They will start with an outdoor stage greeting at the Busan Cinema Center on the 19th at 3:30 PM, followed by a general screening at the CGV Centum City IMAX theater on the 20th at 9 AM, where they will participate in a GV discussing the film's action, characters, and production process with the audience.
The film is produced by Anaxion Studio, with the script written by Moon Bong-seop, who has participated in various domestic films, and directed by Adrian Grunberg, who achieved global box office revenue of approximately 128.4 billion won with 'Rambo: Last Blood.' Additionally, the top American stunt film production company 87North Productions, known for its work on the 'John Wick' series, 'Stuntman,' and 'Ballerina,' contributed as the martial arts team to enhance the film's quality.
Scheduled for release in the second half of this year.
