Yoon Se-ah challenges herself as a horror queen in ‘Home Cam’. The film, which revealed strange experiences during filming, has boldly made its debut in theaters.

On the 26th, a screening and press conference for the movie ‘Home Cam’ was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. Director Oh Se-ho and actors Yoon Se-ah, Kwon Hyuk, and Yoon Byeol-ha attended.

‘Home Cam’ depicts the 24-hour close-up horror of insurance investigator Seong-hee (Yoon Se-ah), who becomes trapped in fear after witnessing a strange presence through a home camera installed in her house while investigating a mysterious death.

Director Oh Se-ho stated, “The concept of a home camera was attractive. Personally, I believe that horror comes from small cracks in everyday life rather than from fear that jumps out from unfamiliar places. Since home cameras are connected to daily life, I felt they could be more frightening and entertaining. The setting of a home camera, which is supposed to protect the home or watch over people, becoming a threatening presence is interesting.”

Yoon Se-ah, who has won the public's love by showcasing unique characters in various works such as ‘Stranger’, ‘SKY Castle’, and ‘Perfect Family’, transforms into a horror queen as Seong-hee in ‘Home Cam’. Yoon Byeol-ha plays Seong-hee's daughter Ji-woo, while Kwon Hyuk takes on the role of the suspicious man Su-rim.

Yoon Se-ah said, “The script was interesting. I felt like I had something to talk about beyond the supernatural aspects. I was so excited to meet the director for the first time that I shared ideas and was so enthusiastic that I even acted out motions, which led us to this point. I am very grateful for ‘Home Cam’.”

She continued, “We prepared hard for the movie, and the filming went smoothly in sequence. I just had to go with the flow. Instead of feeling pressured or trying to lead, I felt like I was placed on a well-structured stage. I had fun filming,” adding, “The set was scary, so I genuinely screamed a lot. I was surprised by the unknown devices, and we had fun filming even to the point of taking breaks.”

Yoon Byeol-ha remarked, “There were many possession scenes in the script. I have seen many adult performances of possession. I thought that if I challenged myself with difficult acting, I would grow a bit more.”

When asked about her experience working with Yoon Se-ah as her mother, she replied, “I don’t watch many movies, so this is my first time meeting her. She treated me comfortably in everyday life, but when we started filming, she was serious and treated me well. So, I automatically immersed myself, which was great,” bringing laughter to the set.

Yoon Se-ah shared, “I had great chemistry with the actors, and I relied on and trusted them. The director is precise, and we recognized each other quickly, which was nice. Especially, the relationship with Byeol-ha was important. As Byeol-ha's mother, I wanted to support her and hope for her success, being a pillar in her life, so I hoped we would become close. Since it was cold, we even shared a blanket and tried to enjoy filming together.”

Kwon Hyuk said, “I’m not really the type to watch horror. I’m usually quite scared, but the script was interesting, and there were many points I wanted to challenge with Su-rim. At first, I was very scared about whether I could express it well, but I wanted to take on the challenge. I heard that Yoon Se-ah was participating, and I was very happy to film.”

He also joked that for good filming, “I referenced a lot of documentaries and YouTube. Only good things came up in my algorithm, so I watched for six hours.”

There is a saying that if you see a ghost on set, the horror movie will be a ‘hit’. In response, Kwon Hyuk shared, “When we were filming the shaman scene, I had a severe headache. I thought it was tough, but the shaman who consulted with us came to the set and asked if I was okay.”

He continued, “When I asked how he knew, he placed his hand on my back and said it felt like something had passed. I suddenly got goosebumps. It was a really amazing experience, and I wondered if ghosts really exist.”

Director Oh Se-ho also confessed, “There were many times we filmed with the home camera on set. To control it, we had to connect via Wi-Fi and operate 3-4 cameras simultaneously, but every time we filmed, the home camera would turn off or the record button wouldn’t work. I thought it was a Wi-Fi issue, but even after installing a new router, the home camera kept turning off whenever we filmed ghost scenes, which scared the staff.”

‘Home Cam’ is set to be released on September 10.
