Actress Gye Ryun-mi is coming to Korea to celebrate the re-release of 'The Blue Gate.'
According to the film 'The Blue Gate,' Gye Ryun-mi will visit Korea on August 8 and 9 to meet with Korean audiences.
As the re-release of classic films has become a new trend, it is quite rare for an actress to visit Korea for a film that was released 23 years ago. Gye Ryun-mi has a special affection for 'The Blue Gate,' which is regarded as her debut and best work, and decided to visit Korea despite her busy schedule. This marks her first visit in 12 years since her last appearance in 2013.
Along with the news of her visit, Gye Ryun-mi conveyed a heartfelt message to the Korean audience.
Gye Ryun-mi stated, "Participating in 'The Blue Gate' opened doors I never imagined, and my life changed. During the process of being involved in the film, I developed a desire and curiosity to deeply explore film and acting, gained a more diverse and tolerant perspective on human nature, and became someone who can honestly face my emotions."
She continued, "To the audience inspired by this film, thank you for sharing your stories. It has been the most precious gift and great encouragement I have received. We share a common language through film. I hope to have the opportunity to discuss 'The Blue Gate' with Korean audiences and share our experiences and feelings."
'The Blue Gate' tells the story of three youths going through the growing pains of summer at seventeen, struggling with feelings of love and wondering, "What is this feeling I have for you?" Due to enthusiastic requests from audiences, it was first released in Korea in 2021 and is set for a re-release on July 30.
Gye Ryun-mi, who was cast through street casting after two years of effort by director Ichien, perfectly embodies the character 'Mengkerou' in both appearance and acting. Despite being her debut film, Gye Ryun-mi flawlessly portrayed the seventeen-year-old girl experiencing the pains of love, quickly rising to fame as an Asian youth star.
