A new legend of superheroes is about to begin. The meeting of James Gunn and DC, 'Superman'.
Director James Gunn revealed the reason for choosing 'Superman' as the first hero of DC Studios during a live conference held on the afternoon of the 3rd at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall, stating, "There are complex reasons and simple reasons, but the most important one is that he is the origin of superheroes worldwide." Therefore, he felt that 'Superman' would be an interesting and good hero to start with.
'Superman' is a massive superhero action blockbuster where the most powerful being on Earth, 'Superman', confronts the worst enemies trying to destroy the world. With his unique direction that has captivated movie fans from 'The Suicide Squad' to the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' series, James Gunn has taken on the role of the new head of DC Studios, directing and writing the film.
James Gunn stated, "When I read comic books as a child, I felt that 'Superman' was more about the story of Superman and various humans, rather than just Superman and meta-humans. I wanted to capture the feeling of living in a world with these various beings and absurdities, and I thought about how to create such a magical world in cinema."
He continued, "I wanted to explore who Superman is more deeply. I was curious about what emotional lines, thoughts, and concerns he would have if he were real. I tried to make him feel like a living character."

The new role of 'Superman' is played by newcomer David Corenswet, while his colleague and love interest 'Lois Lane' is portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan. Nicholas Hoult plays Superman's arch-nemesis, 'Lex Luthor'.
David Corenswet, who continues the legacy of Superman after Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Nicolas Cage, and Henry Cavill, responded to the question of whether he felt pressure by saying, "I thought of it more as a good opportunity than pressure."
He said, "I was lucky. Many great actors have played Superman. I think it's a rare opportunity to take on a role that has been played by such incredible actors. It feels like the past actors are supporting me strongly," he laughed.
He added, "I felt a great sense of support, and it was an honor to be part of the DC Universe as a character loved by younger audiences. I thought it was a good opportunity to bring our vision to new audiences."
Nicholas Hoult revealed that he initially auditioned for the role of Superman, not the villain, and said, "While playing the villain Lex, I expressed jealousy, but that is also a human aspect. Thanks to the director's guidance, my character appeared more horrific. From his perspective, there was a reason to destroy everything about Superman."
Rachel Brosnahan mentioned, "When I saw her in comic books as a child, I thought she was a smart and courageous character. There are many clues about how much she dated Superman and how their relationship evolves afterward."
'Superman' fights against threats around the world as usual, but the citizens' reactions are divided. In the midst of this, 'Lex Luthor' obtains a secret to bring him down and collaborates with the strongest supervillains in history to launch a full-scale attack. Faced with their continued onslaught after his first defeat, 'Superman' stands up again with his super dog 'Krypto' to set things right.
Scheduled for release on July 9.
