‘Hi-Five’ has surpassed Tom Cruise to take the top spot at the weekend box office.

According to the integrated computer network for movie ticket sales from the Korean Film Council, the film ‘Hi-Five’ (directed by Kang Hyoung-chul) attracted 380,334 viewers over the weekend (May 30 to June 1), securing the number one position at the box office. The cumulative audience count is 395,505.

Released on May 30, ‘Hi-Five’ is a comic action film that tells the story of five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and their encounters with those who seek to exploit their abilities.

This is the latest work from director Kang Hyoung-chul, known for films like ‘Speed Scandal’, ‘Sunny’, and ‘Swing Kids’. The cast includes actors Ra Mi-ran, Ahn Jae-hong, Lee Jae-in, Kim Hee-won, and Oh Jung-se. One of the lead actors, Yoo Ah-in, faced a delay in the film's release due to a drug scandal but has now met the audience. The film is gaining popularity for its hilarious comedy, action, and the chemistry and unique stories of the actors.

In second place is ‘Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning’ (directed by Christopher McQuarrie). During the same period, it attracted 370,874 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience count to 2,472,383.

Released on May 17, ‘Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning’ depicts Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the IMF team members who are thrust into a life-threatening crisis that threatens all of humanity, as they embark on a single mission that all their choices lead to.

In third place is ‘Soju War’, which attracted 131,646 viewers, with a cumulative audience count of 136,183.

Released on May 30, ‘Soju War’ is set against the backdrop of the late 1990s financial crisis and tells the story of a financial director, Jong-rok, for whom the company is everything, and In-beom, an employee of a global investment firm focused solely on profit, as they clash over a soju company. The cast includes Lee Je-hoon, Yoo Hae-jin, and Son Hyun-joo.

As of 8:40 AM today, the real-time reservation rate leader is ‘Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning’, with a reservation rate of 19.1% and 57,724 tickets sold. In second place is ‘Sinmyeong’ with a reservation rate of 18.7% and 56,648 tickets. Third is ‘Hi-Five’ with a reservation rate of 18.3% and 55,513 tickets sold, showing similar figures.
