Director Kang Hyung-cheol of 'High Five' has expressed his stance on the Yoo Ah-in controversy.
On the afternoon of the 26th, a press screening and meeting for the movie 'High Five' was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. Director Kang Hyung-cheol and actors Lee Jae-in, Ahn Jae-hong, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Hee-won, Oh Jung-se, and Park Jin-young attended.
When asked about his feelings on the release, Director Kang said, "I am very happy. I am extremely glad that it is finally being released. After seven years, I am able to show a new work. In fact, I think I had momentarily forgotten how glorious it is to have my films shown in theaters."
Regarding the Yoo Ah-in risk, he stated, "This is not just one person's film. Many people have dedicated a part of their lives to this, and many brilliant actors have put in great effort to create a film that brings joy."
Director Kang also expressed, "This film is filled with a lot of time and effort. It is a sincere film. With the joyful and delightful performances of shining actors and the enjoyment of the film itself, it will offset any discomfort."
Previously, 'High Five' faced delays due to actor Yoo Ah-in's drug scandal but eventually managed to be released after various twists and turns. Yoo Ah-in was legally detained for habitual drug use, including propofol and marijuana, and received a one-year prison sentence with a two-year probation in the appeals court, leading to his release.
'High Five' is a comic action film that tells the story of five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and encounter those who seek to exploit their abilities. It is set to be released on the 30th.
