After successfully completing Coachella, the group ENHYPEN has begun to warm up for their comeback with a concept cinema premiere event.
ENHYPEN (Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunwoo, Niki) held the concept cinema premiere event for their mini album 'DESIRE: UNLEASH' on the 11th at 1 PM at the Coex Megabox in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
When asked about his feelings on filming the concept cinema, Jake replied, "Every time we do this kind of shoot, it feels different from a music video. I was nervous, and it might have felt awkward because of the different atmosphere, but the director helped a lot, so I tried to immerse myself as much as possible."
Sunghoon also smiled and said, "Since we are not actors, it wasn't easy to act and deliver lines. The director, who knows the overall atmosphere of the cinema, helped us express how to act well, which was very helpful."
The cinema premiere event, which was a group viewing event, was attended by numerous fans. Especially during the group viewing, laughter erupted from various places among the fans. Jungwon said, "It's not a cute video, but the fans who saw the video today said it was cute. I was grateful that they liked it and found it cute."
The concept cinema is a unique genre of content series that only ENHYPEN can showcase. They have previously presented concept trailers that visualize the main themes of their albums. This concept cinema is inspired by the movie 'Talk Show with the Devil' and is set in the 1970s, where humans and vampires coexist.
Director Park Min-soo explained, "The theme of this film is 'the desires of vampires,' and three types of vampires appear. I wanted to show the conflict of a vampire that craves blood, a vampire that suppresses its desire for blood, and a vampire that appears on a talk show, caught between the two."
Sunwoo mentioned the differences from the previous concept cinema, saying, "While we expressed youthful love before, this time you will see a more mature side of us. I think as we grow older, our maturity has been upgraded, so those aspects might stand out."
When asked if there were any works or characters they referenced while preparing for this concept cinema, Jay spoke up.
He explained, "Since the background is similar to 'Talk Show with the Devil,' I watched a lot of clips. Also, for my personal character, I referenced a character from the Lucifer series. Since I am acting out a meeting between a fantastical being and a person from the real world, I tried to express a somewhat arrogant and haughty spiritual being."
ENHYPEN will make their comeback with their mini album 'DESIRE: UNLEASH' on the 5th of next month. This album contains a story that conveys the desire felt for a loved one in ENHYPEN's unique emotions.
Heeseung stated, "The main theme of this concept cinema video is desire, and the keyword of desire is also important in the upcoming album. Since those aspects are well connected, I hope you pay close attention to the point of desire."
In particular, 'DESIRE: UNLEASH' is drawing attention as it is the first album released after ENHYPEN received positive feedback at Coachella.
Jake shared, "We had so much fun performing at Coachella because many people liked it. Since this album is coming out in a situation where people have become interested in ENHYPEN through Coachella, I hope it receives a lot of love. It's an album filled with ENHYPEN's essence, so I think even those who are seeing us for the first time will be able to see our colors and charm."
Finally, when Jake was asked what desire ENHYPEN has, given that the theme of the concept cinema is desire, he said, "Desire is a human instinct, and I believe that having desires gives rise to goals. As ENHYPEN, we want to show our performances to more people. We have prepared a lot this year, so I hope we can achieve good results."
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN's 'DESIRE: UNLEASH' concept cinema will be released at midnight on the 12th. The running time is 9 minutes.
