The only blockbuster in theaters at the end of the year, ‘Harbin’ (directed by Woo Min-ho), has ranked first for three consecutive days. With ticket sales of 200,000, it is undoubtedly the number one in ticket sales rate.
According to the integrated computer network of movie tickets from the Korean Film Council on the 27th, ‘Harbin’ attracted 227,787 viewers the previous day. It drew an impressive 847,819 viewers on Christmas, but saw a drop during the weekdays and is aiming for a rebound over the weekend. The cumulative audience number is 1,481,814.
The film tells the story of those who thought of their country before themselves, focusing on the ‘noble soul’ Ahn Jung-geun. After its release, audience reviews were sharply divided, and the CGV Golden Egg Index, which was at 99% before the screening, dropped to 87% in just one day and is currently maintaining at 88%. With an investment of about 30 billion won, the break-even point is approximately 6.5 million.
‘Firefighter’ maintains its second place and is on the verge of surpassing 3 million. On the same day, 46,520 viewers chose it, bringing the cumulative audience number to 2,983,233. It has already succeeded in surpassing the break-even point (2.5 million) and has reached the target for the ‘119 Won Donation Challenge,’ which donates ticket revenue to the National Fire Hospital set to be completed in 2025.
In third place is ‘Crayon Shin-chan: Dinosaur Diary’ (directed by Shinobu Sasaki), which met 16,726 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience number to 434,310.
Fourth place goes to ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ (directed by Barry Jenkins), which attracted 16,561 viewers, resulting in a cumulative audience number of 494,680. ‘Moana 2’ (directed by Dave Derrick Jr.) is in fifth place with 15,689 viewers and a cumulative audience number of 3,238,576.
