Middle-aged actress Kim Mi-sook (65) revealed that she ran a kindergarten for 18 years with the advertising income she earned in the past, stating, “I was truly happy.”
On the 1st, a video titled ‘Actress Kim Mi-sook Episode 7 (CF Queen, Becoming a Kindergarten Principal through Family Business..!)’ was posted on the YouTube channel ‘Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life.’
In this video, Song Seung-hwan introduced Kim Mi-sook, saying, “She was the queen of CFs in the 80s and 90s,” and mentioned that according to some articles, Kim Hye-ja, Go Doo-shim, and Kim Mi-sook were top models in advertisements during that time, shooting numerous commercials.
He then asked Kim Mi-sook, “Since you earned so much, you must have sent your kids to America and made investments, right?” to which Kim Mi-sook coolly acknowledged, “I earned a lot. I worked hard on various things.”
When Song Seung-hwan continued, “Didn’t you reinvest that money or buy land?” Kim Mi-sook replied, “I managed the kindergarten. Of course, I bought some land and saved a lot, but my younger sister, who is a kindergarten teacher, looked really happy. She would come home, edit photos of the kids, and make teaching materials, laughing to herself. That was the trigger.”
“At that time, I asked my sister, ‘Is it really that fun?’ and she said it was so much fun. We thought it would be great to do something like that too. So we decided to run a kindergarten. I discussed it with my father, and he thought it was a great idea, so I took the lead and started it as a family business. I really did it happily and invested wholeheartedly in the kindergarten.”
It is rumored that the ‘Love Kindergarten’ run by Kim Mi-sook was so popular that there were lines on the day of registration.
She said, “It was embarrassing, but on the registration day, fathers would come to the kindergarten wrapped in blankets and stand in line. I was really surprised,” and humbly added, “It’s not like my kindergarten was that famous, but I think people trusted it because it was run by actress Kim Mi-sook.”
She continued, “It was really fun and very fulfilling. Even now, wherever I go, people call me ‘Principal.’ Once a principal, always a principal, I think. It was a happy time,” she smiled.
Kim Mi-sook also sent a video letter to her former students from ‘Love Kindergarten.’ She said, “It seems like it has been 22 years since ‘Love Kindergarten’ closed. But when I meet parents on the street, they say, ‘Our daughter is a graduate of this year.’ And when I run into someone, they say, ‘Principal, I’m a graduate of this year.’ I can’t remember everyone, but I am infinitely grateful that you remember me.”
Additionally, she expressed, “I believe you have grown into wonderful adults and are part of society in South Korea. I am grateful that you have grown up healthy, and I feel infinite responsibility towards all of you who always call me ‘Principal’ whenever we meet, saying ‘Once a principal, always a principal.’ As much as you have loved me and as much as we have connected, I will always pray for you in my heart, and I hope you will do the same for me.”
