“My body is not free, but I endure each day...”
Actress Na Moon-hee (83) expressed her “honor” at transforming into Korea's first AI actor.
On the morning of the 11th, Na Moon-hee attended the press screening and award ceremony for the film ‘Na Ya Moon-hee’ held at CGV Yongsan, enjoying the special experience. After presenting the work, she greeted the press and posed warmly with the award winners during the photo time.
Having made an infinite debut in the AI universe, she said, “(Although my body is not free) I feel like I have wings with AI,” adding, “At first, I was flustered because no sound came out, but then I realized I still have energy for this sound.”
She continued, “I was happy to have wings. It was really good to be active and moving until the day I die rather than just waiting for that day.”
Additionally, she smiled, saying, “All the ideas were really great. Just sitting in a place I’ve never been in the world made me happy.”
The film ‘Na Ya, Moon-hee’ depicts the infinite debut universe of Na Moon-hee, a national actress representing South Korea and a leading figure in meme trends. Na Moon-hee takes on the unprecedented challenge of ‘limitless debut beyond imagination’ in an AI worldview created by five film directors, breaking down the boundaries of time, space, genre, and character, transforming into ‘Santa’, ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘Biker’, ‘Astronaut’, and more.
Previously, a competition was held to create short films featuring Na Moon-hee as the protagonist using artificial intelligence (AI), with a total of 47 entries submitted, and five were selected as award-winning films for theatrical release. The grand prize went to ‘DO YOU REALLY KNOW HER’ (Director Jung Eun-wook).
Na Moon-hee stated, “To ensure my breathing as an actual actor doesn’t get disrupted, I’m diligently listening to classical music and learning piano from my daughter, continuing to make efforts,” and added, “I hope people think of the AI movie version of Na Moon-hee as ‘Oh, there’s this Na Moon-hee too.’ I started with the thought of trying to fly with wings, and I didn’t have big expectations. I think it was a good decision.”
Furthermore, she expressed her desire, saying, “I want to try being the protagonist in an opera and explore other things as well. Currently, my body is not free, and I endure each day. But (in the movie) it felt so good to fly with wings.”
The film will be released nationwide in CGV on the 24th.
