Group ATBO member Jung Seung-hwan has enlisted for military service.
On the 20th, his agency IST Entertainment announced, “ATBO member Jung Seung-hwan has entered the Army Training Center in Nonsan today (October 20) to fulfill his national defense duties.”
They added, “Jung Seung-hwan wished to quietly serve in the military, so he was unable to inform fans in advance, and we ask for your understanding.”
Furthermore, they stated, “Jung Seung-hwan will deeply cherish the love from his fans and plans to return with a more developed self after completing his service. We ask for your support and warm encouragement so that he can complete his military life healthily.”
Afterward, a handwritten letter to fans from Jung Seung-hwan was revealed on his social media. He wrote, “First of all, I think many of you were surprised by the sudden news of my enlistment. After much contemplation, I thought that perhaps finishing my military service, which is a significant task in life, and returning to be active in front of you would be a choice that allows us to meet more often and for a longer time.”
He continued, “Although I am currently a soldier, as I have always said, I have no intention of quitting art. I will definitely come back.”
He added, “I don’t know in what form I will return, but it’s okay to dream of the moment I can stand in front of you again. I sincerely promise this. Even at this moment, as I write before my enlistment, I think of the fans who have supported and liked me. I reflect on how precious and grateful the time I spent has been.”
Finally, he said, “It may feel like a long time, but if you support me and look forward to my growth, I will repay you with a good appearance after completing my military service.”
Jung Seung-hwan ranked first in the MBN audition program ‘THE ORIGIN - A, B, Or What?’ and was selected for the debut team, debuting in 2022 as a member of the boy group ATBO.

Hello, this is Jung Seung-hwan.
First of all, I think many of you were surprised by the sudden news of my enlistment. I sincerely apologize for having to rush to inform those who have been waiting for my activities.
In fact, this decision was made recently, so I still can’t fully grasp it. However, after much thought, I believed that finishing my military service, which is a significant task in life, and returning to be active in front of you would be a choice that allows us to meet more often and for a longer time. So, I gathered my courage and decided to enlist.
Although I am currently a soldier, as I have always said, I have no intention of quitting art. I will definitely come back. I don’t know in what form I will return, but it’s okay to dream of the moment I can stand in front of you again. I sincerely promise this. Even at this moment, as I write before my enlistment, I think of the fans who have supported and liked me. I reflect on how precious and grateful the time I spent has been.
