Singer Soyou, who reported experiencing racial discrimination on a foreign airline, has been the subject of witness accounts stating that he was in a drunken state.
On the 19th, a netizen mentioned the situation on social media related to Soyou's claims of racial discrimination, saying, "I was on the same flight as him."
He stated, "Soyou said he wouldn't eat because he was tired while in a drunken state," and added, "I heard the staff saying that you shouldn't board a plane when drunk. You can't just say 'I'm wronged' or 'this is racial discrimination' like that."
He continued, "It was a night flight, so I didn't notice at first, but it suddenly got noisy after we sat down, and it was Soyou. He admitted he was drunk and requested a Korean flight attendant because he couldn't read the menu. There was no security present," he explained. He also shared, "At that moment, I felt so embarrassed as a Korean and as a fan. I was very embarrassed for the flight attendants as well."
On the same day, Soyou shared a photo of her Delta Airlines ticket on her social media, stating, "After finishing my schedule in New York, I boarded a flight to Korea via Atlanta." She explained, "I only requested a Korean flight attendant to check the meal time because I was extremely tired, but the chief flight attendant judged my attitude and treated me like a problematic passenger, suddenly calling security."
She expressed, "I even had to say, 'If I'm the problem, I'll get off,' and I had to endure cold stares and attitudes throughout the flight," adding, "At that moment, I thought, 'Is this racial discrimination?'"
She continued, "I couldn't eat anything during the flight of over 15 hours, and that experience left a deep wound stemming from racial prejudice," and added, "I hope no one is suspected or insulted because of their race."
Regarding the controversy over Soyou's drunken state on the plane, her agency has not released any particular statement.
Soyou debuted in 2010 as a member of the group Sistar, receiving great love, and has been continuing her solo activities since 2017. Recently, she announced a new beginning by signing an exclusive contract with the comprehensive entertainment company Mound Media.
