Starship Entertainment, the agency of the group Ive, has apologized regarding the controversy over the trademark lawsuit.
On the 2nd, Starship announced through their official SNS, "This matter was independently initiated by an agent without prior consultation with us," and stated, "As soon as we became aware of the situation, we reviewed the legality of the procedure and promptly withdrew the lawsuit."
Starship continued, "We deeply regret the confusion caused to many people," and added, "We respect the rights and efforts of those who have diligently continued their business for a long time, as much as we protect the rights of our artists. We promise to manage this carefully to prevent such incidents from happening again."
Earlier, on the 30th of last month, the leather workshop Ive Leather Goods revealed through SNS that they had received a notice of trademark cancellation trial from Starship, bringing the controversy to public attention.
Mr. A, the owner of Ive Leather Goods, expressed, "I have been operating the business since 2015 and completed trademark registration for a total of four product lines in 2019," and added, "Ive debuted in 2021, and there have already been public institution exhibitions and collaborations, so what is the reason for this trial?"
He continued, "'Ive' is also my English name," and emphasized, "It is a legacy of the spirit of the workshop that has been run since my parents' time, so even if I am currently pausing operations, I must protect the brand."
Additionally, Mr. A stated, "I believe this issue could happen to other 'Ive' trademark holders, so I will share the progress from a public interest perspective."
Meanwhile, Ive will hold their second world tour 'SHOW WHAT I AM' at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul from the 31st to November 2nd.
