Actress Lee Si-young confessed to being diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
On the 30th of last month, Lee Si-young shared a video on her YouTube channel 'Ppusiyoung' showing her going camping.
On that day, Lee Si-young said, "I haven't gone camping this often, but my son has fallen in love with camping. So I'm going again after two weeks," and added, "Going camping after two weeks is tough."
She continued, "The second baby is not showing as much as the first," and added, "But the baby is growing well and there is a lot of amniotic fluid."
Confessing her diagnosis of gestational diabetes, Lee Si-young said, "I really eat healthily," and mentioned, "The second test guide from the hospital says not to eat fried foods, but I didn't have any of those."
She then explained, "So everyone couldn't understand, but when I was hungry, I ate 4 to 5 peaches," and added, "Peaches are really sweet and have a very high sugar content. I think I just need to stop eating peaches."
Gestational diabetes is a condition that occurs during pregnancy due to increased insulin resistance caused by hormonal changes, leading to high blood sugar levels. It is distinguished from pre-pregnancy diabetes as it occurs or is discovered for the first time during pregnancy.
If left untreated, it can cause the fetus to grow excessively, increasing the risk of delivery complications, and the incidence of complications such as neonatal hypoglycemia, jaundice, and respiratory distress also increases. Dietary management and exercise can help control blood sugar, but about 10-15% may require insulin injections.
Meanwhile, Lee Si-young married a businessman 9 years her senior in 2017 and welcomed a son the following year. However, she announced her separation earlier this year, and in July, it was reported that she is pregnant with her second child using frozen embryos before her divorce, drawing attention.
