Mixed martial artist and broadcaster Choo Sung-hoon discussed the culture of wedding gifts in Japan, stating, "At least 300,000 won."
While talking about wedding gifts on his YouTube channel on the 29th, Choo asked the production team, "Is there a set amount that is considered polite to give at weddings in our country?"
He added, "In Japan, you must give at least 300,000 won, regardless of how close you are."
The production team responded, "In Korea, if you don't attend a wedding, you give 50,000 won; if you're somewhat close, you give between 100,000 to 150,000 won; and if you're really close, you give between 300,000 to 1,000,000 won."
Choo Sung-hoon was surprised and asked, "Is that really the case?" The production team explained, "It varies from person to person, so it's a topic of much debate."
Choo Sung-hoon requested, "Please let me know in the comments how much you give as a wedding gift. (However) please don't fight too much," emphasizing, "I just want to ask because it varies from person to person."
