Comedian Kim Shin-young's reason for temporarily leaving broadcasting to stay by her mentor Jeon Yoo-sung's side has come to light.
Since the 23rd, Kim Shin-young has not appeared on her show, MBC FM4U's 'Midday Hope Song with Kim Shin-young' (hereafter 'Midday Hope'). The 'Midday Hope' team announced on their official SNS account on the 22nd, "This week, DJ Cindy (Kim Shin-young's DJ nickname) will be absent due to personal matters, and we will have special DJ Nabi with us."
Since taking on the DJ role in 2012, Kim Shin-young has maintained her position for 13 years, except for regular vacations, which raised concerns among listeners about her health.
In the meantime, news about Kim Shin-young, who had been absent, was shared. Lee Kyung-sil announced the passing of Jeon Yoo-sung on the 26th via SNS, stating, "Our comedy industry's great elder brother has passed away."
She continued, “After the recording on Wednesday (24th), it was raining heavily, and I thought it would be too late if I didn’t go now, so I left around 2 PM and arrived at Jeonbuk National University Hospital around 5:30 PM to see my brother. Kim Shin-young was by his side, changing wet towels and nursing him along with his family, daughter, and son-in-law.”
She added, “I was proud and grateful to see Shin-young, who was devotedly caring for her professor, who was also her mentor.”

Jeon Yoo-sung passed away at 9:05 PM on the 25th at Jeonbuk National University Hospital, at the age of 76. He had undergone surgery for a pneumothorax in July, but his condition worsened recently, leading to hospitalization, and he ultimately passed away.
The deceased's funeral is being held at Seoul Hyundai Asan Hospital, and the ceremony will be conducted as a comedian's funeral (comedic funeral).
