Actor Gong Myung is taking on a new challenge. Both noir action and playing a villain are new experiences for him.
On the morning of the 5th, at the production presentation for Netflix's new series 'The Square' held at the Pullman Hotel in Seoul, Gong Myung shyly smiled and said, "This is my first time in this genre and with this character, so it feels a bit awkward to talk about it here."
He added, "I feel like I should be talking about it with a smile, but even mentioning the role of 'Jun-mo' feels unfamiliar to me," and introduced his character by saying, "I think Jun-mo is a character who is honest with his emotions, wanting to do everything he desires and have everything he wants."
He continued, "I think I focused on how to express emotions more honestly. I wanted Jun-mo to have a childlike feeling among the characters here, so I tried to maximize that childish aspect. I was constantly contemplating while filming."
'The Square' is a noir action drama about 'Gi-jun', who cut off his Achilles' heel and left the world of the square, returning after 11 years due to the death of his younger brother 'Gi-seok', who was the second-in-command of an organization, to uncover the truth behind it for revenge. It stars So Ji-sub, Heo Jun-ho, Gong Myung, Choo Young-woo, and Kang Gil-kyung, with special appearances by Cha Seung-won and Lee Joon-hyuk.
It will be released worldwide on Netflix on June 6.
