YouTuber Gujaeok (real name Lee Jun-hee) has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for defamation related to former Captain Lee Geun.

On the 18th, a sentencing hearing was held at the Suwon District Court for Gujaeok, who is facing charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).

The prosecution requested a 5-year prison sentence for Gujaeok, stating, “The defendant has repeatedly disseminated the complainant's private life beyond simple criticism and has publicly spread false facts, seriously damaging social evaluation.”

The final verdict is expected to be delivered on November 24.

Former Captain Lee visited the court to observe the trial held in July. During an interview with reporters at that time, he stated, “I have been fighting with Gujaeok for a very long time,” adding, “Because Gujaeok has been spreading false information about me for over 4 years.”

He also mentioned, “It has been ongoing since the web entertainment ‘Fake Man,’ and I have filed 7 lawsuits so far,” and “Our trial verdict date was on the 18th, but it was postponed to September due to being combined with the Jjuyang case.”

Gujaeok has also been indicted for extorting tens of millions of won from YouTuber Jjuyang (real name Park Jeong-won) through threats. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison in the first trial and was taken into custody, receiving the same sentence in the appeals trial.

Additionally, he was fined for mentioning another YouTuber's sexual crime record. The Supreme Court's 1st Division confirmed the original sentence of a 3 million won fine for Gujaeok, who was indicted for defamation last month on the 14th.
