The band QWER (Chodan, Magenta, Siyeon, Hina) has revealed the status of their legal response to malicious comments and illegal posts.
On the 18th, their agency, 3Y Corporation, announced through the official fan cafe, “We are informing you about the progress of legal actions regarding malicious posts related to QWER.”
According to the agency, a total of 115 malicious posts have been criminally complained about for violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Crimes of Defamation and Sexual Violence (using communication media for obscenity, editing and distributing false videos, etc.) in two instances in 2024 and once in June 2025.
The cases are currently being transferred to local police stations for processing, and some cases have already resulted in guilty verdicts and fines.
The agency stated, “We are responding to the end without settlement or leniency to protect the artists,” and emphasized, “We will hold legal responsibility for malicious and illegal posts without exception in the future.”
Since their debut, QWER has consistently suffered from malicious comments due to being labeled as ‘internet broadcasters’, having ‘Japanese idol backgrounds’, and facing ‘hand-sync controversies’. Last year, they filed their first complaint after receiving over 250 reports related to the spread of false information and defamation.
Recently, they faced excessive criticism from some fans for the design of their light stick for their first world tour ‘ROCKATION’, which was pointed out to be similar to the light stick of the boy group ‘The Boyz’.
QWER has proven their popularity by entering the top ranks of music charts with each of their released songs, such as ‘Addicted to Worry’, ‘My Name is Clear’, and ‘Holding Back Tears’. They will kick off their first world tour, covering North America and Asia, with performances at the Olympic Park Ticket Link Live Arena in Seoul from October 3 to 5.
