Mnet's idol survival program 'Boys 2 Planet' has confirmed the final 24 members through the second survivor announcement ceremony.
In this global voting, over 14.6 million votes were cast from 222 countries. The broadcasting company stated, "The viewership rating among women aged 10-20 ranked first in its time slot, including terrestrial channels, and the real-time share on the OTT platform Tving exceeded 92%." The number of global viewers also increased by 162% compared to the previous week in South Korea, continuing its upward trend.
The response on social media was also enthusiastic. On X (formerly Twitter), 20 global trends entered simultaneously, and over 90 keywords ranked high in more than 10 countries, including South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Brazil, and France. It also made its mark on Weibo (China) comprehensive charts and variety show rankings, proving its popularity beyond Asia.
In the TOP 8 revealed that day, Lee Sang-won was the only one to surpass 10 million points, maintaining first place. Zhou Wanxin came in second, followed by Lee Rio (3rd), He Xinlong (4th), Kim Jun-seo (5th), Jung Sang-hyun (6th), Kim Gun-woo (7th), and Yoo Gang-min (8th).
The rapid rise in rankings also caught attention. Kim Jun-min climbed 16 spots to 11th, Jeon Yi-jeong reached 12th in her first rap position challenge, and Park Jun-il made a remarkable leap of 22 spots to enter 13th. The final 24th place was secured by Park Dong-kyu based on live voting results.
Along with the second announcement ceremony, the lineup for the 'Debut Concept Battle' songs was also revealed. New song stages such as 'Lucky MACHO', 'Chains', 'Sugar HIGH', and 'MAIN DISH' must be within the top 24 to be performed. The production team stated, "The participants are dedicated to practicing with the determination to perform on stage regardless of their rankings."
In the upcoming 9th episode airing on the 11th, the 24 surviving members will showcase their debut concept stages. There is keen interest in how the final team composition will be determined.
