Fans of Yoo Seung-jun (Steve Yoo), a singer who has been banned from entering the country for over 20 years due to military service evasion controversy, have requested President Lee Jae-myung to lift the entry restrictions.

On the 9th, Yoo Seung-jun's fandom posted a statement on the DC Inside 'Yoo Seung-jun Gallery', saying, "We hope that the tolerance and fairness shown in the recent review process of political pardons will be applied equally to Yoo Seung-jun."

They argued, "The government is reviewing pardons and restorations for politicians and public officials ahead of the August 15 Liberation Day," and added, "Despite the Supreme Court ruling twice that the visa denial was illegal, the continued entry restrictions are inconsistent with fairness and the rule of law."

They emphasized, "Yoo Seung-jun has endured much criticism and sanctions over the years. This does not mean he was without fault, but he has sufficiently borne the social responsibility that comes with it. We hope that the will for national unity, as demonstrated in the cases of politicians like former Justice Minister Cho Kuk and former lawmaker Yoon Mi-hyang, will also be applied to ordinary citizens like Yoo Seung-jun."

Additionally, they expressed, "We hope that President Lee Jae-myung's decision will serve as an opportunity to realize the constitutional values of fairness and justice."

Yoo Seung-jun lost his Korean nationality after obtaining U.S. citizenship when he left for a performance in 2002. At that time, he faced criticism for allegedly trying to evade military service, and the Ministry of Justice restricted his entry.
