The author of the popular Naver webtoons ‘Realistic Objective Fairy Tale’, ‘Three Kingdoms Talk’, and ‘Joseon Dynasty Talk’, Immortal Pink (real name Byeon Ji-min, 36), has taken action against online haters.
On the 4th, Immortal Pink posted a statement on social media saying, “Hello, this is Immortal Pink. I would like to inform you that this statement has been reviewed by the law firm Neuroyer.”
In the statement, it was mentioned, “This has been a long-standing violence. Many of the individuals being sued have repeatedly engaged in personal attacks like the ones below (from 2024 to present)” and added, “While doing so, they referred to themselves as ‘good readers’ and called the author’s resistance to online abuse a ‘battle of nerves’, constantly justifying their actions and continuing serious online attacks including insults, belittling, criticism, and spreading false information.”
According to Immortal Pink, these individuals have been engaging in ‘star rating terror’ on the author’s ongoing webtoon, enjoying it as a game and urging others to join in the comments, while systematically mocking and attacking readers who disagreed.
The star rating system allows readers to evaluate webtoons on a scale from 1 to 10, with the average score displayed as the work's rating. This is quite important as it serves as a criterion for readers when choosing works. Particularly, if there are many low ratings, the overall score of the work can drop significantly, affecting the author.
Immortal Pink also pointed out that these individuals targeted not only the author personally but also the author’s family and collaborating authors, stating, “Some have transferred their attacks from the completed work ‘Three Kingdoms Talk’ to the newly serialized work ‘Joseon Dynasty Talk’, showing no remorse.”
As a result, Immortal Pink filed a lawsuit earlier this year.
Finally, it was emphasized, “We have signed a monitoring contract with the law firm to periodically disclose whether there are additional allegations that could not be included in this lawsuit by reviewing the comment sections of completed works, ongoing works, upcoming new works, and social media and communities. As announced, there will be no leniency.”
Some of the comments from the haters that Immortal Pink revealed included expressions that crossed the line, such as “I’ll cut off your livelihood,” “Another 1 point today,” “Here we go with the battle of nerves again,” and “Why are you still alive?”
Immortal Pink gained recognition after appearing on the MBC variety show ‘Infinite Challenge’ in 2016. At that time, they drew a ‘relay webtoon’ with Yoo Jae-suk and attracted attention for their outstanding beauty and being a graduate of Seoul National University’s Department of Design.
