Summer star Jo Jung-seok has done it again. Following 'Exit' and 'Pilot', 'Zombie Daughter' is another box office savior for the summer theater season.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 31st, the comedy human drama 'Zombie Daughter' (directed by Pil Gam-seong), starring Jo Jung-seok, attracted 430,091 viewers on its opening day, topping the box office.

Before its release, it set the record for the highest pre-sale tickets among films released this year, and now it has achieved the highest opening score for a film released this year.

Additionally, it holds the record for the highest opening among all Korean comedy films to date. It surpassed the previous year's highest-grossing film 'Mission: Impossible - Final Reckoning', which had an opening score of 423,892 viewers, as well as the ten-million-viewer comedy 'Extreme Job' with 368,582 viewers.

Moreover, it easily surpassed recent mega-hits like 'The Burial' with 330,118 viewers and 'Spring in Seoul' with 203,813 viewers, as well as last summer's highest-grossing film 'Pilot' with an opening score of 373,859 viewers. It has the highest opening score among non-series Korean films released in the last five years.

The audience reactions are also enthusiastic. It has a CGV Egg Index of 91%, a Lotte Cinema score of 9.1, and a Naver score of 9.08, reflecting high ratings.

The film depicts the humorous and painful struggles of a doting father who undergoes secret training to protect his daughter, who has become the last remaining zombie in the world. It is based on the webtoon 'My Daughter Became a Zombie', written and illustrated by Lee Yoon-chang, which has accumulated 500 million views globally.

Directed by Pil Gam-seong, who gained attention with his screen debut 'Hostage' and received acclaim from Forbes for 'A Lucky Day', the film features performances by Jo Jung-seok, Lee Jung-eun, Jo Yeo-jeong, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Choi Yu-ri.
