Members of the group BTS, V and Jungkook, have had their damage compensation lawsuit against the YouTube channel 'Anti-Fandom Shelter' end in no settlement.
According to Star Today’s report on the 21st, the mediation session for the damage compensation lawsuit filed by V, Jungkook, and their agency Big Hit Music against Mr. A was determined to be 'no settlement' during the session held at the Seoul Western District Court this morning.
Since no agreement was reached between the two parties during the mediation session, the existing appeal process will continue.
V and Jungkook, along with Big Hit Music, filed a lawsuit for damage compensation amounting to 90 million won last March, claiming that Mr. A posted false videos that defamed them and disrupted the company's operations.
Big Hit argued that Mr. A should also compensate for the unauthorized use of the agency's copyrighted materials.
In the first trial, the court ruled that Mr. A must pay 51 million won to Big Hit Music, and 10 million won and 15 million won to V and Jungkook, respectively, resulting in a partial victory for the plaintiffs.
Dissatisfied with the ruling, Mr. A appealed, and although the second trial court decided to refer the case for mediation before the trial, the lawsuit will resume as no agreement was reached.
Since October 2021, Mr. A has been producing videos on his YouTube channel 'Anti-Fandom Shelter' based on malicious rumors about celebrities.
As a result, in addition to V and Jungkook, singer Kang Daniel and IVE's Jang Won-young have faced civil and criminal trials for spreading false information and defamation, or are currently undergoing trials. The channel in question has since been deleted.
