A photoshoot featuring Jang Wooyoung, a member of the group 2PM, has been released.
Jang Wooyoung graced the solo cover of the August issue of ‘At Style’. In this shoot, he radiated his ‘born-to-be-idol’ charm, from refreshing appeal to chic masculinity.
Recently, Jang Wooyoung broke his long silence and made a solo comeback with the new song ‘Simple Dance’, showcasing a simple yet deadly charm that brings a sense of ease to the tense K-pop scene, embodying the essence of ‘simple is best’.
Regarding this solo comeback, which breaks a 7-year and 5-month hiatus since ‘Dduk’ in 2018, he revealed, “Actually, I played this song for the company 5 years ago, but it was neatly rejected. However, I consistently pushed this song for 5 years.”
He candidly shared the reason for not giving up on the song despite being rejected multiple times by the company, saying, “I’m quick to accept things and I don’t really like to clash with others, but in fact, I’m quite stubborn (laughs). In the end, the company must have thought, ‘Jang Wooyoung won’t come back unless it’s this song,’ and finally gave me permission.”

As Jang Wooyoung is known as ‘the son born from JYP’s joints and vocal cords’, what was Park Jin-young’s reaction to this comeback? He said, “In fact, Jin-young hyung was quite disappointed. He wanted me to dance more trendily and intensely.”
On the other hand, Jang Wooyoung expressed, “I didn’t want to make a grand comeback saying, ‘Everyone, I’m finally back!’ Rather than chasing trends or doing grand music, I just wanted to make music that reflects who I am now.”
He praised Park Jin-young’s recent Waterbomb stage, stating, “I think this year’s Waterbomb was saved by Jin-young hyung. It’s really admirable that he has maintained such energy and stamina until now.”
When asked if he ever thought about other choices after being with JYP for 20 years, he replied, “Not once. My life as a singer has always been with JYP, and as much as the company believed in me, I also believed in the company.”
He also shared good news about a full group comeback for 2PM, saying, “The day for 2PM’s return is not far off. It’s quite close. I will greet you soon at a good timing.”
When asked about his current state, Jang Wooyoung said, “I’m still sleeping. It’s probably around 5 to 6 AM. My prime time hasn’t even started yet,” revealing his aspirations for the future.
