The power of singer IU has been unexpectedly proven once again. The copyright fee for Park Hye-kyung's 'Red Sneakers,' released 23 years ago, skyrocketed by 180 times per share of music securities within a month after IU's remake.

On the 16th, the music revenue securities investment platform Musicow released the copyright settlement information for June.

Musicow conducts copyright settlements for the previous month on the 10th business day of each month and pays dividends to customer accounts. Before the settlement date, they release a summary content called 'Settlement Note,' where one can check the songs with the highest copyright fee increase rate compared to the previous month, continuously rising songs, and settlement information by media.

In June, the copyright fee per share of Park Hye-kyung's 'Red Sneakers' was 21,218 won, which is more than 180 times the 113 won from May. This song gained attention when IU released her remake at the end of May, and the announcement regarding the additional trust property due to the creation of a derivative work (remake) has also been completed.

Looking at the media distribution of the copyright fee for 'Red Sneakers,' which recorded the highest increase rate compared to the previous month, the proportion of reproduction fees generated when used in album production, movies, advertisements, etc., was the highest at 89.9%.

Following 'Red Sneakers,' the songs with significant increases in copyright fees were 4Minute's 'I My Me Mine,' C-Jam's 'Beautiful,' Daesung's 'BABY DON’T CRY,' and Cha Eun-woo's 'Rainbow Falling' in that order.

A Musicow representative stated, “The popularity of remakes or cover songs, reunion and comeback issues, and other opportunities for songs that have been released for a long time are increasing for copyright fees to rise. If you have a song of interest, checking the trends related to that song or artist, as well as the timing of copyright fee distribution by media, can help in making a rational investment,” adding, “Musicow will also strive to provide customers with more diverse investment information through copyright settlement notes and content on our web magazine channel.”

IU released her third remake album 'Flower Bookmark 3' in May. This album includes Park Hye-kyung's 'Red Sneakers,' Boohwal's 'Never Ending Story,' Seo Taiji's 'October 4th,' the band Rollercoaster's 'Last Scene,' Shin Jung-hyun's 'Beauty,' and the project band White's 'Dream of a Square.'
