British pop singer Lily Allen (40) confessed that she had multiple abortions in the past.
On the BBC Sound podcast 'Miss Me?' on the 30th of last month, Lily Allen said, “I am currently using an intrauterine device (IUD), and this is my third or fourth. My life used to be really messy. I was often pregnant.”
She continued, “I don’t exactly remember how many times I had an abortion,” adding, “I think it was probably around four or five times.”
She also mentioned a time when her boyfriend paid for her abortion, jokingly saying, “At that time, I felt it was romantic. But he didn’t contact me afterward.”
The podcast co-host, broadcaster Mikhida Oliver (41), also revealed, “I have had about five abortions. I stopped having abortions after using an IUD.”
The two emphasized, “Choosing to have an abortion in the case of an unwanted pregnancy is completely justified.”
Lily Allen had previously spoken out in support of abortion rights in 2022. When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the 'Roe v. Wade' ruling and excluded abortion from constitutional rights, she claimed on social media, “The reason for having an abortion is sufficient because I do not want a child.”
At that time, not only Lily Allen but also several stars expressed their opposition, with Olivia Rodrigo stating, “The abolition of abortion rights will lead to the deaths of many women and girls.” Additionally, Megan Thee Stallion emphasized, “Women have the right to choose about their own bodies.” Billie Eilish expressed her anger, saying, “It’s really a dark day for women in America.”
Taylor Swift argued, “We have fought for women's basic rights for decades, but this decision has pushed us away from that.”
Lily Allen is a British singer, actress, and designer, the eldest daughter of actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. She released her first single 'Smile' and debut album 'Alright, Still' in 2006, gaining attention by selling 2.6 million copies worldwide upon her debut. In 2020, she remarried David Harbour, the star of the Netflix series 'Stranger Things,' and currently lives in New York with her children.
Lily Allen has previously stated, “I love my children and they complete me,” while also honestly saying, “The life of a pop star is completely ruined. You can’t catch both 'rabbits'.”
