Actor Park Jung-min, who is busy even as the representative of a publishing company, has retracted his earlier declaration of a sabbatical and confirmed that he will continue his acting activities.
On the 11th, Park Jung-min, who recently became the representative of a publishing company, appeared as a guest on tvN's entertainment show 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz').
On that day, Yoo Jae-suk mentioned, "Jung-min declared a suspension of acting activities and a sabbatical earlier this year," to which Park Jung-min responded, "I never said the words suspension or sabbatical. I only said, 'I plan to take a break for a year,' but it spread as 'sudden suspension,' 'retirement,' and 'sabbatical.' That news even topped the entertainment articles," expressing his frustration.
He added, "My senior, Hwang Jung-min, who is in the same company, said he would take a break and told me, 'Don't take a break.' He said, 'If you take a break, who will earn the money?' At that moment, I thought maybe I should, and then I declared a break with the intention of resisting that."
However, despite publicly declaring a break, he has been actively participating in various YouTube channels and even 'You Quiz.'
Yoo Jae-suk pointed out, "Is it really a sabbatical? You seem busier," to which Park Jung-min replied, "I plan to retract the sabbatical. I misspoke. As the representative of a company, I have to promote the works of the writers, so I took on everything that came my way," making everyone laugh with his embarrassment.
Park Jung-min shared, "Originally, it was a one-person publishing company, but I quickly brought someone on board, so now there are two of us. At 5 PM, I tell the staff, 'You can go home,' but they say, 'Just a moment, I have things to do too,'" sharing behind-the-scenes stories of the operation.
When asked, "Aren't you good at writing?" he added, "I once avoided punishment in high school by writing a reflection paper. I wrote about what I did wrong, why I was sorry to the teacher, and why I was sorry to God."
He also revealed behind-the-scenes details about the publication of writer Kim Geum-hee's novel 'First Summer, Wanju.'
Before appearing on 'You Quiz,' Park Jung-min mentioned that he increased the print run of the new book, saying, "I called the bookstore and asked, 'Since I'm going on You Quiz, how many copies do you think you will order?'" Unlike the usual process where paper books and e-books are released first before producing audiobooks, 'First Summer, Wanju' was created with a focus on the audiobook from the manuscript stage.
Park Jung-min revealed, "My father had an accident and lost his sight," and added, "I felt like I was pitying myself because my father's eyes don't see well. It was so shameful and unpleasant to see. I have just started to think that I need to keep doing something for my father, even now."
