Lee Ru (43), the son of Tae Jin-ah and a singer, has reported health deterioration while reflecting on his drunk driving incident.
On the 2nd, Lee Ru shared several photos on his social media, stating, “My shoulder has calcification, my knee is swollen with water, both my body and mind are in shambles.”
In the photos, he is seen with a bandage on his knee, suggesting he has received treatment for swelling.
Prior to this, he posted on social media, “I got tangled up. Firmly. Before it’s too late. Before it’s irreversible. Before I regret it,” and “I feel resentment but also guilt. I dislike it but can’t help but care. If I do it, it’s meddling; if someone else does it, it’s concern. If I do it, it’s a lie; if someone else does it, it’s goodwill,” raising concerns among his fans.
Last March, Lee Ru was sentenced to a suspended prison term for driving under the influence and for attempting to switch drivers with a passenger.
The Seoul Western District Court’s Criminal Appeal Division 2-2 sentenced Lee Ru to 6 months in prison, suspended for 1 year, for aiding in the evasion of a criminal, aiding drunk driving, and violating the Road Traffic Act regarding drunk driving and speeding. Since both the prosecution and Lee Ru did not file an appeal, the ruling was finalized.
In September 2022, while under investigation for drunk driving, he falsely claimed that his passenger, professional golfer Park, was driving.
Separately, in December of the same year, he was also accused of allowing an intoxicated acquaintance to drive his vehicle in a parking lot and later driving under the influence himself, resulting in an accident.
Until recently, he had been reflecting on his actions, but he made headlines by appearing alongside fellow singer Ailee at Tae Jin-ah's wedding.
